BUTEX and GarmentTechBD Sign MoU to Strengthen Collaboration in Textile Education, Research, and Industry Innovation

The Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Academy of Garments Technology Bangladesh (GarmentTechBD). The signing took place on Monday, 10 November 2025, at the BUTEX campus.
The partnership aims to strengthen collaboration in textile education, research, innovation, and professional development within the garment and apparel sector.
Through this agreement, both institutions will work together on several initiatives. These include hands-on training programs, industry-focused workshops, research-driven projects, academic competitions, and capacity-building activities. The partnership will also introduce real-world simulations for students.
The goal is to align academic learning with the evolving needs of the textile and apparel industry. This ensures that students develop the skills required for future leadership roles.
As part of the MoU, BUTEX students will receive priority access to GarmentTechBD’s e-learning platforms. They will also gain access to professional certification programs and industry-based internships.
Additionally, students will receive complimentary ASCM and GarmentTechBD memberships. These memberships will help them expand their professional networks, attend exclusive events, and develop practical competencies.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Engr. Md. Zulhash Uddin, Vice Chancellor of BUTEX, and Dr. Henry Soo, Strategic Partner of GarmentTechBD.
The ceremony was also attended by senior officials from BUTEX. These include Dr. Rasheda Begum Dina, Registrar (Additional Charge), Prof. Shilpi Akter, Dean of the Faculty of Textile Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Md. Ahashan Habib, Dean of the Faculty of Textile Management and Business Studies.
Md. Panna Rahman, Project Leader at GarmentTechBD, was also present.
This collaboration reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to fostering innovation, research excellence, and skill development. It aims to support the dynamic needs of Bangladesh’s textile and apparel industries.
The partnership is expected to contribute to capacity building, workforce readiness, and long-term industry competitiveness.
